Tahanto Regional Middle School

Boylston, MA

Porcelanosa developed a unique façade design at the new Tahanto Regional Middle School not only solved their water issues experienced with the porous stone, but it enhanced aesthetics of the project as whole. Porcelain, a man-made engineered stone, gave the school a durable, maintenance free facade and peace of mind. The building, created by HMFH Architects, Inc., is located in Boylston, Massachusetts and houses almost 600 students in both middle and high school within the 2-story building. The building’s new design stands out vibrantly amongst the school’s rural forest setting, which is located right off of the Wachusett Reservoir.

Main Building Facade with Porcelain Cladding

Porcelanosa’s ventilated façade system was a perfect solution for the building’s design with its eco porcelain panels that are created in an eco-friendly facility, and advanced façade system that helps the building remain thermally efficient no matter what the external temperature is.

Over 4,000 square feet of Porcelanosa’s Ferroker Caldera and Ironker Cobre porcelain panels were used to create a stunning façade pattern that is accented by reclaimed wood, metal panels, and bright green window treatments. Both the Ferroker and Ironker are metallic porcelain panels that change their visual appearance as sunlight strikes the facade.
